1. ISSUE STATEMENT:
There is a need identified by the Industry to continue to maintain ubiquitous deployment of 7and 10-digit dialing for both the 950 and National 555 NXXs, wherever 10-digit dialing may be required otherwise. (555 Technical Service Interconnection Arrangements, ICCF 96-0411-014, Par. 1.1).
NIIF is requested to confirm that it is technically feasible to retain 7 and 10-digit dialing for the 555 and 950 NXXs, wherever 10-digit dialing is required.
2. SUGGESTED RESOLUTION OR OUTPUT/SERVICE DESIRED:
NIIF is requested to confirm that it is technically feasible to retain 7 and 10-digit dialing for the 950 and 555 NXXs wherever 10-digit dialing is or may be required.
3. OTHER POTENTIAL IMPACTS (if any): Addenda to Resolved Issues: ICCF 96-0411-014, "555 Technical Service Interconnection Arrangements", 4/11/96; NIIF Issue #0005 formerly IILC Issue # 046), 1/97; ICCF Issue #277, "Access Arrangements for 555 Line Numbers"; OBF Issue 1038. : Uniform National Dialing Plan (INC 97-0131-017, Par. 2.3, n.1, 1/31/97); INC 96-0308-011, Par. 4.2.3, 3/8/96).
4. CURRENT ACTIVITY
Other outside activities which should be noted include study of the uses of the 555 (and possibly 950) exchange which have the attention of the Alzheimer's Association, American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), and child advocates, due to demonstrated human memory limitations for such persons, relating to existing research data which shows that retention of permissive 7-digit dialing is a desirable public policy, at least for those exchanges with potential for national ubiquitous 7-digit dialing for a single entity (so far, 950 and 555).
