NPA Split Update
Larry outlined that the NPA Split software is not ready. The NPAC testing team discovered a "bug". Lockheed Martin would not be able to provide a "fix" for the bug until 12/19/97. As you all know, the revised GA date was re-scheduled for 12/15/97. Obviously this date will not be met due to the delay in the fix. The Service Providers were informed by Lockheed, of the delay, on Wednesday, December 10, during a cross regional conference call.
Service Providers will be testing during the last two weeks of December.
The new target date for general availability is now January 5, 1997. This is pending any Ameritech regulatory issues that may be filed with the Michigan Public Services Commission for cost recovery. Ameritech has already filed a cost recovery petition in the state of Illinois. A similar petition is anticipated in the state of Michigan.
We will be in a better position to determine progress on the "fix" for the NPA Split problem in a couple of weeks. Larry will keep the team updated via e-mail as new information becomes available.
Detroit General Availability Delay
The GA date for Detroit, as stated above, has been delayed until January 5, 1998. Larry received a memo from Donna Navickas, Ameritech, on Monday, December 15, 1997. The memo outlined that there was a delay in the NPA Split fix and that the new target date for GA is 1/5/98. Larry Vasquez updated Bill Celio, Michigan Public Services Commission, via voice mail on December 12, 1997. He will be sending him written notification once Jim Joerger and Barry Bishop have an opportunity to review the memo from Donna. He will be sending out an e-mail to the implementation team when he sends it out to Bill Celio.
Switch Rollout Schedule
Barry Bishop’s replacement (his last day with Ameritech is December 31, 1997) will be responsible for sending out a revised switch rollout schedule due to the GA delay. This new schedule would reflect the new dates for LNP deployment in the Detroit MSA switches. Barry stated that a new schedule would be sent out from Ameritech as soon as possible.
Open Issues
None stated, but we still need to discuss how GTE and WorldCom will come on board early next year. Also, how we will address Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor later in 1998.
Future Meetings
The next scheduled conference is on January 12, 1998. The meeting will start at 9:00 Central Time, 10:00 Eastern Time. The conference call will last one hour and we will be using the same bridge number 312 814-xxxx.
We should now by then the status of the GA date for Detroit and whether
we have any regulatory issues to discuss
