Week 7 Summary

 

Summary

Week 7, the final week of the Illinois FCC LNP Field Test (Field Test) inter company network testing concluded this week in Chicago. Testing was centered on the task of returning all ported numbers to the service provider from which they originated. Some were moved back using Port to Original type operations processes and the remain were moved back utilizing the Disconnect operations process. In the case of the former, the initial owner of the number receives the ported number back in a working condition simulating the "Win Back" situation. Using the later, Disco, process the phone number is disconnected testing the scenario where the new service provider receives an order from their customer saying that they are now moving out of the area and wish to disconnect their service. All service providers have completed all their testing and all telephone numbers reside with their native switch. The Illinois FCC LNP Field Test completed successfully as of 8:00 PM Central time Friday September 26, 1997. The Final Illinois FCC LNP Field Test Report is due to the FCC on October 17, 1997.

SERVICE PROVIDER - A REPORT

SP-A reports that all of the Illinois porting data has been removed from the NPAC. Also when SP-A calls the numbers that we ported back to original we go to voice mail. When SP-A calls the numbers that we disconnected we go to an announcement. Therefore you can report that SP-A has completed the FCC Field Test.

SERVICE PROVIDER - E REPORT

Company E effectively had a total of five business days to make the test calls and resolve troubles related to call completions. Three of these days were in this week. A majority of Company Es test calls were coordinated with Company A on Tuesday. Once troubleshooting of the initial set up corrected problems, the call thru testing process went smoothly.

This week Company E completed test cases in the following categories:

Service Tests.

Due to various reasons we could not complete all calls in some categories as planned originally. None of them represent a shortcoming in the LRN technology. Had we had more time to resolve issues relating to these particular test cases, we would have completed all test cases.

Company E is satisfied with our progress this week: no stumbling blocks were encountered that would hamper basic call completions, especially considering the short time that was available for testing. We consider ourselves successful in the FCC Field Test and we feel confident in our ability to implement the LRN technology commercially.
