Illinois FCC LNP Field Test

Week 6 Summary

Summary

Week 6 of the Illinois FCC LNP Field Test (Field Test) inter company network testing continued this week in Chicago. Testing was varied as SP-B and SP-C have completed all call through testing that they had planned to participate in. SP-A could complete their testing except that they are waiting to test with SP-E. After extensive work with their SS7 and LSMS providers SP-D was able to query their database and complete calls to ported telephone numbers. Telephone numbers were ported from SP-E to the other service providers this week. SP-E will be performing coordinated testing with SP-A and SP-D next week. The final porting process will be initiated on Monday with all ported telephone numbers scheduled to be returned to their original Service Provider on Thursday. The Illinois FCC LRN Field Test will conclude Friday September 26th.

Individual SP reports.

SERVICE PROVIDER - A REPORT

SP-A reports having completed all of the testing with the second round of ports with other service providers that were ready to test. We have also completed the testing between our switches. We are prepared to test with SP E next week if they need our assistance.

In addition to the test cases listed below SP-A has also tested their repair processes and syatems associated with maintaining LNP data. SP-A was successful in our tests. Therefore SP-A has completed the test cases listed in section 4.3.3.

Many of the failures listed below are due to a No Answer condition at the called partyís end and due to one line that we were experiencing problems with that are not related to LNP.

SERVICE PROVIDER - D REPORT

SP-D was unable to complete the testing this week as anticipated. This was primarily due to terminating test numbers not having a recording indicating LNP test number, or no human answering the terminating test number.

SP-D is also concerned about the LNP administrations systems (SOAís/LSMSís) and the NPAC on line availability. If the availability of all service providers administration systems and the NPAC is not substantially enhanced from where it is per this report the Industry may not be ready to enter into a production environment on 9/29/97.

Note* See new proposed schedule above.

During the week of 9/15-19/97 SP-D completed 30 tests in their DMS-100, and 16 tests in their 5ESS as follows:

SERVICE PROVIDER - E REPORT

Upon investigation of why the SP-E SCP was not updated with LNP records, we found in the ASMS that certain processes were stalled and messages into LSMS were frozen in a queue. The processes were restarted and the records were propagated to the SCP. SP-E does not expect to encounter this problem again as our vendor is providing a permanent fix to the problem next week.

The situation above describes why SP-E could not complete calls to ported NXXs. Another closely related problem that was found and corrected was that in our switch translations, the default routing was not set this caused the calls to go to fast busy. The calls were still processing intermittently. Other problems found and fixed were that one of our links to the SCP was down - administratively we took the SCP out of service of service; and one of four SCP processors was not activated completely with the subsystem number, once corrected calls are completing normally.

To date SP-E has completed calls in the following categories:

Basic Message Interactions

Operator Assisted

ISDN

The remaining major call categories in order of priority are:
